Art For Your Walls, Decor For Your Home: Empty wall spaces – decorate with antique maps

In our house we all love wall maps. So we thought our wall behind the couch in the living room will be the perfect place for some maps display.

There are lots of examples of decor with maps on the world wide web: mapwalldecor-5933811

I was looking on the Internet for some antique maps of Paris, and we( me and my husband) came across some cool good looking ones.

The one I decided to use, is a map of Paris from 1569.

You can frame one large map or frame several smaller maps in a grouping. I also really liked the idea of cutting up a large map and framing the pieces in a grid.

I used 4 Ikea Ribba wall frames for my project, but haven’t used the matting. And this is how it looks on the wall: decorate-with-antique-maps-01-3751818

I really like the colors:

… and the details!

Stay tuned for the step by step project on how to get antique map decor on a small budget by framing in a grid of four.

Have you decorate with maps lately? Do you feel the trend is gone or still going strong?
