With Thanksgiving just days apart, your dinner table will be in the centre of attention. As a host, you’re thinking not only of Thanksgiving dinner itself, but the way the table will be set: dinnerware, flatware and table decor.
Having said that, your dinnerware should follow the same idea with the general Thanksgiving theme you chose.
Tips for on the Budget Thanksgiving Dinnerware and Decor
Start with plates.
It’s a good idea to have in your kitchen “arsenal” white plates. They are versatile and easy to mix and match with other accessories to create either a formal setting ot a more casual one. For a personal touch, add some special tableware, such as a handmade serving platter for the turkey, making your meal even more memorable.
How elegant and inviting is this table setting! White dinnerware was used, with no chargers or placemats, contrasting with the warm color of the wood table.
The simple set of plates was paired with timeless flatware and small silver plates were added to the dinnerware ensemble.
In this living room, the autumnal atmosphere is created by the contrast created between the wood black table and everything set on it. The rich harvest motif with pumpkins and leaves in autumnal tones on the table runner is carried on the napkins as well. Again white, round plates were used for dinnerware. Each plate has its paper bag for surprises and a small cluster of berries to stay in the same range of fall colors.
The orange individual tureens in the shape of pumpkins offers an appealing simplicity and organic feel.

If you’re inclined more towards modern decor, choose white square plates for dinnerware, set on a clean white linen backdrop. Rectangle folded silver napkins were set under the salad plates. The punch of color is given by burgundy and purple flower stems( black calla lily-ies, amaranthus and seedums ) arranged in tall cylindrical mercury glass vases. Same burgundy color was carried on by the purple artichokes on top of the plates for added drama.
Small clusters of textured mercury glass votives add instant warmth to the table.

White stoneware dinner plates( from Anthropologie )are paired with heirloom silver tableware. Surprise your guests with a menu card. The one in the photo is made of fabric. Thin pieces of linen were ran through an inkjet printer to allow for menu printing.
There are few things that all these images have in common:
- white Thanksgiving dinnerware: easy on the budget and versatile. They are the starting point, and the rest was built from there, either by adding a special turkey platter, pumpkin tureens, small silver plates.
- low centerpieces: they are easier to create and better for conversation; all guests can see each other. Where vases were used for centerpieces, they were tall enough not to obstruct conversation.
- natural and easy to create elements: small berry branches, bunches of fall flowers, nuts, gourds or leaves. Nothing will say fall more beautifully!
